The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Certification System and associated standards provide opportunities for palm oil producers, from small farmers to large plantations companies and millers, to demonstrate that the production of palm oil can be sustainable. With the availability of certified palm oil, end users and product manufactures can now make credible claims on their use or support of sustainable palm oil through this system.
This professional training course has been designed to allow supply chain actors, from the CPO mills to processors and manufacturers, to develop an understanding of the RSPO’s Supply Chain Certification System (SCCS) and related standards and rules. The training provides a detailed explanation of the RSPO Supply Chain Certification System and its application. The course will provide an understanding of the RSPO rules that relate to making sustainability claims and use of its trademark logo. Presentations, small groups and participatory discussions will be used to facilitate the learning during the training. This training course aims to equip participants with the understanding and tools they need to conduct or implement the RSPO supply chain certification system competently and professionally. Certificates will be issued to all those that complete and successfully passes the course exam.
Course Overview
This is a professional course and has been designed for users of the RSPO Supply Chain Certification System. It provides an understanding of the core standard and its application. The course is designed for professional auditors and other members of supply chain actors to increase their understanding of the RSPO system. The course will be a useful for developing capacity amongst internal or external auditors to demonstrate fulfilling training requirements to be an accredited RSPO Lead Auditors.
The course will be conducted in English. All participants are expected to have knowledge of the RSPO Principles & Criteria (P&C). A pre-assessment will be provided and must be completed before the course.
Course Outline
The course has been designed as a professional development course to support the implementation of the RSPO SCC System and Standard. The course will fulfil requirements for professional development of approved Certification Bodies and fulfil the requirements of RSPO Members Code of Conduct. Key topics covered include:
- Overview of RSPO and sustainability issues in palm oil
- RSPO Certification Systems on P&C and Supply Chain
- Auditing the SCCS
- Supply Chain Standard in SCCS
- Rules for Market Communication & Claims
